I love, love, love, my new homemade face and body wash! I've been using this for several months now, and love it! It is gentle, effective, and all-natural, with no harmful parabens. It is also oh-so-easy to make!
First, use up a bottle of store-bought foaming hand soap.
Next, pour Dr. Bronner's Pure Castille Soap into the empty bottle, filling it about one-fifth to one-fourth full. I use Dr. Bronner's Unscented Mild Baby Soap. It is wonderful for baby wash, as well as for family members with sensitive skin. You can buy this at Target or Trader Joe's.
Then fill up the rest of the bottle with water, leaving room for the large foaming pump.
Finally, pour in several drops of your favorite essential oil. My favorite is orange. I get mine at a great price from A Scents Worth.
Shake it all up, and you are done! This one simple recipe can be used for natural hand soap, baby bath, face wash, and body wash.

Love it, Paula . . . easy and great recipe - I am such a fan of Dr. Bronner's baby mild - we use it as our dish soap and as our family shampoo. Love the idea of a facial wash - thank you for sharing this!!
ReplyDeleteI love Dr. Bronners! I even use it for shampoo. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so making this! Thanks for posting this. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Paula for posting this recipe! I am also a fan of Dr. Bronner's liquid soaps. I will be making this with my Young Living Essential Oils, which are pure & of the highest quality oils. I am still trying to decide which to use: orange (as you stated), lemon, lavender, or maybe a blend of oils.

That is simply awesome. I just bought a bar of Dr. Bronner's soap - lavender. I tried it in the shower last night on my face. I love this idea!

thanks!
Looks awesome, Paula! Thank you so much!!
ReplyDeleteLove the recipe and want to try it, but does it have to be a foaming pump or can it be a regular pump? Have a great day and God Bless
ReplyDeleteIt does work better with the foaming pump. When I tried it with a regular pump, it tended to clog up. Thanks for visiting!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great (and simple!) idea. Do you still use the essential oil if it's for a baby wash?
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up at Thrifty Thursday!
The oil does not irritate my daughter's skin that is very sensitive, although I cannot speak for eyes. I also would avoid peppermint oil, as that could cause some tingling or burning. You can also simply leave out the oil; that is what I did when my youngest was a baby.
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing this recipe at different blogs so I think it's a sign I should try making some! :) Thank you for sharing at Thrifty Thursday--I'm going to share this post on my Facebook page!
ReplyDeleteYes, you should make some, Jenn! Thanks so much for sharing my post!
ReplyDeleteIs this safe to use on acne prone skin? And does it remove makeup too?
ReplyDeleteYes, I would say it would work better than all the chemical-laden acne washes that are on the drugstore shelves. It will not irritate your skin nor clog your pores. Yes, it removes makeup, although I have not used it on my eyes.
DeleteWow, what a simple recipe! Have found loooots of complicated ones in my searches. Def want to try this...and maybe even blog about it on my Health blog. If I do I will give you credit!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rachel!
